Having celebrated his 10th year anniversary in October last year, David Tlale has been gracing us with breathtaking designs now for 10 years! This multiple award-winning, proudly South African designer, never fails to impress and grabbed Elle New Talent in South Africa Award as well as being recognised as Best Designer by the Sunday Times! David has proven that he is indeed a design force with creations that go far beyond our wildest dreams.His true success began in 2005, when Tlale was appointed Head Designer for Carducci Woman under the House of Monatic Group in Cape Town South Africa. By 2007 he began to focus on the David Tlale movement, and was one of the 4 young SA Fashion designers chosen to present their Couture Collection during Paris Couture week! And the success did not stop here, as the following year, back in his home country, he was voted the most stylish designer at the South African Style Awards and also voted Mzansi’s South Africa’s Star Designer of the year as well as being nominated for many other awards.Making us proud, in 2008 he designing a show stopper Couture master piece for British super model Jordan Dunn at the closing show for Virgin Mobile Cape-Town Fashion Week. And then was chosen to be an ambassador for the Change-4-Ever campaign that aims to alleviate poverty in Southern Africa. By 2009, a true turning point for the brand when Tlale stunned the fashion world with his debut Spring/Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection and won ‘Designer of the Year” at Africa Fashion Week awards hosted by international super model Alek Wek. Tlale had been exposed to the world for the talented and innovative designer he is, never-failing to impress with memorizing creations, taking the brand “David Tlale” to astronomical heights. Another stunning collection followed in 2010 when Tlale and his movement, showcased at Mid-night the “Butter-Fly” Collection during the World Cup tournament at the Africa Fashion week 2010 in Johannesburg and just blew the media, fashionistas, buyers and crowds away with his creativity, crowning him King of Fashion in SA! Back on the runway in 2011, Tlale closed the “Iconic Nelson Mandela Bridge” in Joburg, presenting his Fall 2011 Collection with 92 colourful South African Models consisting of models, celebrities, sports personalities, celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 92nd birthday in true style! 2011 was also the year that Tlale opened his 1st ever flagship boutique at the Michael Angelo Towers in Sandton. Moments of celebration continued in September 2012 where he was the first South African to showcase solo at fashion week and debuted his Spring/13 ready-to-wear Collection at the Lincoln Centre in the BOX during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York; courtesy of the National Empowerment Fund in South Africa. Last year, we celebrated the ‘Tlale decade” and he presented his 2nd Collection, “Decadence” Fall/13 Collection at Lincoln Centre New York in February 2013. And as though Tlale is not busy taking the fashion world by storm, he also launched a hand bag range that is sold nationwide in South Africa. It’s safe to say his marvelous movement continues, his daring, bold and unpredictable brand is one that defies convention and shows true craftsmanship, passion and talent. Through fabric, color, texture and awe-inspiring skill, Tlale continues to wow media and fashion fans across the world.
