Eat, drink and design at Nando’s #HYD2015 Design Session on Tuesday evening, the 18th of August at the CCDI. From 17h00 to 21h00 hot young South African creatives (aged 35 and under) are invited to participate at the CCDI event space on the corner of Barrack and Harrington Streets for a festive and inspirational talent search evening. Come and spend a few hours eating Nando’s, drinking Spier wine, chatting to like-minded creatives and working on your design for a functional pendant-light fitting with an authentic, forward-thinking and sophisticated South African look and feel. The winning #HYD2015 lighting design will feature in Nando’s restaurants around the globe, with a fantastic line up of prizes to be awarded to the talented final winner! The Design Session kicks off with Nando’s snacks and wine. Between 18h15 and 18h45, South Africa’s hottest lighting designers will each be given three minutes in the limelight to share their lighting design insights with South Africa’s young emerging design talent. The cutting-edge speakers include renowned local creative Tracy Lynch, multiple-award winning designers Megan Hess and Andrea Kleinloog of Anatomy Design, multi-disciplinary creative Atang Tshikare, talented designer Laurie Wiid Van Heerden, and designer Mara Fleischer talking about lighting design in conjunction with remarkable isiXhosa craft collective Du Noon Urban weavers. Lighting created or chosen by each of the speakers will be exhibited at the event. After their insta-talks the designer-speakers will mingle with the crowd, who are invited to bring along or start new Nando’s #HYD2015 lighting entries at the event, and, to take the opportunity to get hot advice on their entries from the lighting designers before entering them online.The event is free but numbers are limited so please do remember to RSVP at www.ccdi.org.za/nandos.
