Principia Design – Lifestyle Home Garden

A retail project that faced many challenges came to life through several phases and the design expertise of Principia Design. Starting off with an information desk that took inspiration from what Lifestyle Home & garden centre is famous for, nature.

The fresh, organic and strikingly “green” trend has been rife in the design and architectural industry for several years and has no indication of fading out at any point soon. The client’s brief to Principia Design was simple: “create an effective retail environment in which our brand will become more visible”.

The team managed to pull off a versatile and impactful design that awarded Principia with more phases to the project. With obvious natural textures, materials and planting, these elements could be replicated anywhere. Careful commercial considerations limited the design aesthetically, however, the raw pine timber, grey and white cabinetry, artificial grass & leaves, & custom-made moss pendant lights with decorative bulbs left a lasting impression.

The second phase required portable shelving for merchandising. By repeating the main elements seen in phase one, and careful robust design, the concept started maximising the time in the store among existing customers.

Phase three proved to be more demanding, not only in scale and design but in engineering too. Phase three consisted of 20 till points with improved pilot systems, 5 service desks and a 7 piece, 3-ton dendri-form tree top inspired bulkhead. Each till point had specific needs, such as robust materials, access to existing services, improved navigation and clear signage which all contributed to simplifying the shopping process. Erecting the treetop bulkhead required immense teamwork, micromanaging and careful planning in terms of position as well as installing.

The smart execution of the initial brand drew power within the cluttered store. The signage & bulkheads easily differentiated zoning within the store which increased the chances of more sales. The execution of the brand’s key visual elements was highly consistent, aligned and streamlined from phase to phase converting shoppers into customers

The end result is a magnificent space, masterfully designed to meet the client’s brief.



From the floors to the innovative ceiling installations, the space is filled with items to capture one’s attention and create a bold and unique interior design.
