Plascon House Tour: Living On The Edge of Glamour
If there is one word to describe the interior of today’s house tour, it would be edgy. The styling is intriguing and layered and evidently pushes the boundaries of conventional design with an interesting mix of finishes, colours and furniture. The result is a dramatic abode with a glamorous edge.
The living room is filled with playful, dramatic elements and designers have not shied away from bright colours and a fun mix of materials that add a little bit of rock n roll to this space.
The mood is somewhat eccentric and decadent – filled with luxe layers inspired by an old-school English gentleman’s club meets Seventies playboy chalet in Gstaad vibe.
A striking disc chandelier adds a whimsical touch here amid the mix of vintage furniture items and plush fabrics – velvets, silks, lacquered raffia and gold-flecked cork. We also love the bookshelf installation with an array of interesting collectables including leather-bound books, vintage coral and framed butterflies. Two raw pieces of amethyst on the mantel add a wonderful textural quality and sense of tranquillity to this space.
The kitchen too is a celebration of interesting textures and finishes. Far from conventional, the kitchen draws us in with playful elements that include unlacquered brass, glass and metal doors. Tiffany Blue Amazonite stands out as a feature in this space – the beautiful tones are rich and stand out against the darker shades used.
In the dining room, the same style of glamourous finishes adds drama. A mix of rich tactile fabrics, mirror, brass and a striking feature chandelier completes the eclectic, dramatic feel of this room.
This interior is far from ordinary and designers have developed a unique style that is out of the box and exciting on many different levels.
