Plascon House Tour: An apartment with a terrace

Today’s quirky terraced apartment is a reminder of the 1950’s with vintage furniture and checkered tiles that add to the distinct style of the place. With modern and industrial touches, it certainly has flair, and the owners have created a wonderful open plan living space where the kitchen looks out over the living room.

Charcoal cabinetry in the kitchen adds a certain level of drama to the room, paired with modern industrial lighting suspended from metal piping above the kitchen sink. An array of pendants are hung at varying heights for added interest and gives the kitchen a retro, urban feel. We also love the contemporary bar stools in wood and dark metal for added contrast here. The owners have fully embraced the black and white checkered tiles used throughout the space, and successfully emulate the colours through the interior decor to complement the look of the room. From a beautiful arrangement of portrait prints in black frames perfectly positioned as a gallery wall in the lounge area, to the angular choice of industrial light in this space in darker shades. Glass nesting tables, a leather occasional chair and a bold green sofa add character to this room, as well as a vintage floor lamp with three lampshades on display in the one corner of the room. The dining room seems to be a mix of old and new with a family-style dining table and arrangement of colourful vintage chairs. Square white tiles fill the entire wall and add a reflective quality to this space, while a 3-dimensional metal chandelier adds visual interest here, suspended above the table. Again, if you’re looking for inspiration for your own gallery wall at home, this home has the right thing going for itself. Keep it simple in neutral prints and a monochromatic colour palette with a single-toned frame, such as the thin black frames used here. This symmetry adds to the overall completed look of the space. Let each image or print speak to your soul, as each portrait on this wall seems to capture an emotion that the owners have wished to translate into their interior design. In the bedroom, however, things are far less emotive with a beautifully calming palette of white and grey to enhance a relaxing environment. Half of the wall has cleverly been painted in a dark grey tone, which provides an illusion of an oversized headboard. Floor to ceiling drapes in the same shade complete the look here. And not forgetting the main attraction – a wonderful little terrace, in full colour, to enjoy the outdoors! Contact:Plascon
