Classic Revivals is the proud host of an inaugural exhibition of artworks by Mark de Wet, a newly discovered Cape Town based artist. At 28 years of age, Mark offers a fresh perspective to traditional motifs, drawing inspiration from his love affair with the Klein Karoo. Mark has been creating art since his childhood years and flourished with the support of his parents.
“Karoo Farmscapes” showcases Mark’s intricate oil paintings which depict Karoo farms painted in a realistic style, which at the same time, conveys an intriguing animated quality.
“I think that the Karoo’s beauty is defined by the light which is incidentally, or typically, the most challenging thing to capture in a painting,” he says.
Curated by Classic Revivals’ co-owner Marc du Toit, the exhibition is currently in progress at Cape Town based showroom, at 34 Napier Street in Die Waterkant, and will culminate in January 2015.
