133 designers, 1 grand exhibition

Next week marks the The New Italian Design exhibition‘s debut in South Africa. After having traveled to Milano, Istanbul and San Francisco, the event is set to run at the Look Out in the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town from the 5th to the 25th, showcasing the work of 133 designers. Approximately 288 projects will be on display, spanning across the fields of product, graphic, fashion, food and interior design.

The exhibited works will range from self-produced prototypes to large-series products, from works of art to merely industrial artefacts. Many of the involved designers are already well-established on a global level and are employed by prominent companies in the industry.

The New Italian Design Exhibition, in conjunction with Triennale Design Museum, will feature an overview of contemporary Italian Design focussing on the transition of the movement in relation to economical, political and technological changes which have occurred over the course of the last century.

As part of the event, Triennale di Milano presents Cape Town Showroom Events: 5 events of the best showrooms of Italian Furniture Design in town. Hosted by ICE, Italian Trade Agency, the event will feature talks by three internationally renowned architects, namely Chiara Tonelli, Giovanni Giacobone and Maurizio Molini.
