CoralBloom’s Seasonal Specials

At CorolBloom, you’ll find nature-inspired functional art for your table, made locally in South Africa.

All designs are original scientific drawings and observations inspired by the Cape’s rich floral biodiversity. It’s a Jooste family affair: mom Ann C. Jooste is a botanical artist; sisters Michelle, a botanist and Megan, a conservation ecologist, transform the botanical drawings and paintings into sustainable and beautiful homeware, supported by dad, Nico.

Order online at www.coralbloomstudio.com and expect delivery within 2-3 days from order.

More about the team behind CoralBloom
Tracing back to times spent exploring the rock pools, mountains and veld surrounding the village of Cape Infanta was really the inception of CoralBloom. This creative endeavour, borne from a close bond with nature, is a family initiative woven together by my sister, mum, dad and myself.

Hailing from a PhD in botany/microbiology and a degree in conservation ecology, the functional art range aims to celebrate the Cape Flora and Fauna to bring joy, not statistics, into the home to inspire and share a deep love for nature.

“Our family has always had a heart driven passion and synergistic dynamic where we love bringing together everyone’s unique skills. The naturalist paintings fusing traditional and modernist watercolor designs are my mother’s and sister’s, who are both self-taught artists.”

Each original is delicately drawn and meticulously painted whilst the father is the carpenter and self-taught jeweller who transforms reclaimed metal into jewellery. The artworks are transformed into beautiful digital designs.

“2020 launched us into a completely new trajectory of textiles, printing face masks that sustained CoralBloom throughout the harsh terrain of lockdown. This jump provided us with an opportunity to launch a range teaming with local fynbos, shells and beloved critters and includes home-ware, décor and accessories. We have also been collaborating with local fashion designers, including a bespoke limited edition linen-range featuring our prints.”

“We align ourselves with slow and circular design principles and strive to create thoughtful items that communicate a story of respect and care. We ensure that materials and supplies are sourced locally and only work with printers who use eco-friendly water-based inks and energy saving equipment. Our range is currently available in pure cotton and hemp. To prevent wastage, we have digital catalogues of prototypes and products are made to order. Layouts for printing are meticulously planned to minimize offcuts and wastage.”

Each item is lovingly hand-sewn by the team in the Somerset West studio and made to last. They are committed to ethical and transparent growth and take the responsibility to educate consumers to choose products that consider the health of our environment.
