The Cape Gallery: Return
The idea of “return” means different things to different people. For some it could mean going home, for others it could evoke the image of a favourite memory, place or even person. B. Ernest Manfunny and Peter Van Straten have created works that embody what the term means to them. This exhibition will be on at The Cape Gallery throughout April 2021.

Below the artists present the concept of “return” in their own words…
Peter Van Straten
“In truth, human nature knows nothing of arrival, only constant departure, and return. In truth, we are nothing more than pendulums.”
– Pierre de la Rue
This body of work is dedicated to return. Return to that which most profoundly feeds us: connection to the natural world, and connection to one another. Return to purpose, and return to light.

Unlike plants which have to make do with their place of germination, animals move. Those that venture far are migratory and they often travel vast distances between two homes.
A few of us humans need to wander with the restless wind. These explorer types hone their skills and develop their Souls while adventuring. A form of mental security is the promise of a nice hot bath after a bone-chilling storm, or the refuge of home.
