Kleoniki Vanos Photography: How To Choose Artwork For Every Room
Art can add a wonderful new dimension to any space. Whether in a bedroom, office, reception area, living room or more, art can certainly uplift, refresh and even transform a room. We asked Kleoniki Vanos to shed light on how to choose the right artwork for each space in a modern interior.
A Waiting Room
We’ve all sat waiting in a reception area of a business, doctor’s office, or public facility. We may not always sign up for a long wait – it’s more of a transition from where we are and where we want to be. However, this doesn’t mean that we can’t elevate those spaces to increase positivity and a contemporary feel.
When choosing art, go for bright and bold pieces that can also be talking points in a waiting room or reception. It’s a great way to enhance your brand too. Large works of art bring texture, colour and interest, even in a dull or uninviting waiting room. It can actually make the wait more pleasurable and set the tone for the entire meeting with clients!
For the Bedroom
The bedroom is a personal and intimate space in a home. We often decorate the rest of our homes and interiors with others in mind – family, colleagues, kids etc. However, when choosing art for your own bedroom, we can be markedly more picky and select items that speak to our own personal tastes and preferences.
That said, the bedroom is a retreat and a place for relaxation. We feel that art should reflect that too. The best walls for art in the bedroom are directly above the bed or on the wall opposite the bed. Large scaled pieces are best and should be hung at eye level. Look for abstract pieces with soothing colours and tones. If you’re into photography, beautiful landscapes and desaturated photos work best here.
For the Living Room
The living room is often a space for the whole family and for guests to enjoy too. We suggest choosing something that adds colour and texture to this room. Most importantly, opt for something that you love. You’re going to have to live with your choice, after all!
If it doesn’t spark joy – then perhaps it isn’t the right fit for your living space!
For the Office
In an office space, everything can be viewed as an extension of your brand. This is also true for your chosen art on the walls. Here, art is used to communicate a corporation’s identity and focus. it is an unspoken dialogue that tells the story about the people and organisation that inhabit the space.
