The summer cleaning regime

Not a day goes by when we’re not fixing, rearranging, wiping or moving things so they collect the least amount of dirt. No matter how hard we try to go about out activities from day to day, we still see the dust particles and moth balls in our storage systems. SO, instead of being productive, be proactive. Take a day, a full day, to thouroughly go through your home and give it the cleaning regime it needs, so you don’t have to continuously keep up with it.

Here are some areas to focus on: Cabinets: To keep grease and grime from piling up, use a strong cream to cut away the dirt and leave wood moisturized and looked after. Windows: A once over doesn’t always work. Don’t just wash them on the inside, take care of both sides. Try wash them on a cloudy day to ensure the sun won’t dry the cleanser before you’re done. Stainless steel: A wax-based aerosol will make these pieces bright and clean, but also need maintenance. Try this regime twice a week for the ideal clean. The silver: A toothbrush and Hagerty Silver Foam work wonders on silver because it’s not too abrasive and it’s water-soluble. Never put the pieces in the dishwasher, they’ll never last that way. Carpets: You would think they need more maintenance and dry cleaning, but low trafficked areas only need to be cleansed twice a year. For high traffic, a good professional clean is a must. Washing machine: Disinfect it with distilled white vinegar and baking soda to keep it fresh and high-functioning. Run the machine with hot water, then add the cleaning agents, and let it sit for 30 to 60 minutes. Afterwards, restart your machine, let the water drain, and wipe it dry. Mattress: Use your vacuum’s crevice tool to clean the surface and sides, then spot-clean stains with an upholstery cleaners. Sanitize with a spritz of disinfectant spray afterwards and you’re all set.
