Spotlight: Uzuria

UZURIA is a composition of the Swahili word “uzuri” meaning “beauty”, and the letter, “A”, for Africa, hence the meaning of ‘beauty of Africa.’ Today Uzuria takes the scents of Africa to the globe and you can help!

UZURIA “Scents of Africa” was founded in early 2015 by a young creative African desiring to bring an African touch to the growing Home Fragrance market. Inspired by the amazing cultural varieties in Africa, he set out to create his own unique and amazing Home Fragrance products with the aim to communicate the scents and the beauties that Africa has to offer. UZURIA “Scents of Africa” design and locally manufacturer handmade scented soy candles in a unique African style with more than 70% of our raw materials coming directly from South Africa. The vision of its founder is to establish UZURIA “Scents of Africa” as a highly trusted African brand locally and internationally. Since the beginning of October 2017, Uzuria candles have now also become available in the Netherlands at LA VIE BOHEME, a décor store and interior design service in The Hague. In an effort to grow the brand even further, Uzuria is currently running a crowdfunding campaign on Thundafund.com to raise R60.000 to help grow and showcase African creativity and know-how both locally and internationally.

The fund will also help create employment opportunities for others and will assist in the founder’s vision to support and contribute more to the MUPHAMUZI BABY HOME and other good causes in South Africa.
