Jenny Powis Photography

Jenny Powis’ passion for photography was sparked in 1980 when she was given her first camera as a graduation present. Over the years she has developed her skill in photography, first with film and now with digital. Over the last 30 years she have won awards for her photographs and in 2002, she became an Associate of the Photographic Society of South Africa (APSSA).  She had to submit 18 colour prints to the Photographic Society of South Africa and these were judged nationally and then she was awarded her Honours in Photography. In 2013, she was awarded the life-time achievement medal by the Cape Town Photographic Society. She is passionate about landscape photography and macro work. She sees the beauty in the big picture as well as the small. Just watching a landscape change in the low light at dawn and dusk is ever so exciting for her. There is a special kind of magic which she tries to capture in the sweet light of dawn and dusk. With her landscapes, she tries to convey the scene as she see it, with all the passion and beauty encaptured in a single photo. There is a great deal of beauty in the very small. She tries to capture this with her macro work. She loves to create abstract images from the inner parts of flowers. The details, which are so often overlooked by others, fascinate her.
